FIVE out of FIVE stars

I listened to Brown Girl Dreaming on Audible, read perfectly by the author. I didn’t realize until halfway through that this is considered a middle school book. It is a memoir in poetry written from a young girl’s point of view through an adult woman’s mind. It works for all ages. It is truly beautiful and touching.

As an adult book I likely would have given it 4 stars, but as a middle school book I’m giving it 5. An excellent introduction for children into several different subjects and themes.

I definitely recommend the audio version, to all ages.
